Gift & Celebration Etiquette
To Give or Not to Give; That is the Question
Getting together with friends or family to celebrate a birthday, milestone or any festivity is a pleasurable event to look forward to (unless you have major issues with your family, which is another discussion for another time). Not only do you get to commemorate the reason for the party, but, you can catch up with people you have not seen for a long time, get some free food and drinks and maybe even dance up a storm or do a little karaoke! But, your forward vision of a good time might be clouded up a little with doubt as to whether or not you need to bring a gift. And once that decision is made, what kind of gift should you bring? And then once you have that sorted out, what should you wear? Should you bring anything else, like an appetizer tray or a bottle of wine? What about if you want to invite that cute guy you have been dating? Should you bring your kids? How do you politely make an exit if the party is lame? And these are just a small sample of the hundreds of questions running through your head as soon as the initial giddiness of being invited to the party wears out.
So, our gift for you is a section on gift giving and general celebration etiquette. Hopefully, this area of our site will answer all of your questions. As there are always special circumstances that pop up, feel free to email us your specific questions and we’ll do our best to post an article that will help ease your stress, leaving only one thing on your mind: PARTY!
